Experience an unforgettable evening where two musical worlds collide in perfect harmony. Jazz Meets Classical brings together the timeless sophistication of classical music with the vibrant spontaneity of jazz in a bold and exciting program featuring works by Bartók, Bernstein, and Balentine. At the heart of the concert is the world premiere of a genre-defying new composition by James Balentine, inspired by Béla Bartók’s String Quartet No. 4. This original work reimagines Bartók’s modernist masterpiece through a jazz lens, bridging tradition and innovation in a truly unique sonic adventure. Musicians from the San Antonio Philharmonic join forces with some of the finest jazz artists from Central Texas, creating an ensemble as diverse and dynamic as the music itself. Musician fees, and composer commission are made possible by a generous grant from the Russel Hill Rogers Fund for the Arts
