Very few things truly unite everyone like food. Family recipes are handed down from generation to generation like a family heirloom. In Mexican culture, we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos where we honor those we’ve loved and lost and remember the times we had while we had them. In the rural South of the United States, a culture far removed from Mexican culture, shares a similar tradition has emerged but seemingly in reverse. Headstones lining cemeteries across the south are forgoing an epitaph and electing to give back to the people they so loved. “Memaw’s No Bake Cookies” full recipe, in all its glory for anyone who wants it. “Debbie’s Tea Biscuits”, “Red Lantern Cheese Dip” and many more recipes are etched in stone for the world to have, and that includes us. We’ll be making family recipes left behind by those who want their traditions kept alive!
