Help us plant the future of the Guadalupe River. 

 The San Antonio Botanical Garden’s TREES Initiative is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help lead planting events during our 2026–2027 Guadalupe River planting season. 

 If you enjoy working outdoors, care about the Hill Country and its rivers, and would like to help others make a tangible difference, we’d love to have you join us for this half-day training workshop. Participants will learn how to lead small groups of 5–6 volunteers as we plant native trees and other plants at restoration sites along the Guadalupe River between Hunt and Comfort. 

The workshop will begin in the classroom with an introduction to Hill Country riparian ecosystems, native plants, and the important role healthy riverside forests play in protecting our rivers, communities, and quality of life. We’ll also cover proper planting techniques, restoration practices, and what to expect during TREES volunteer planting events. Then we’ll head outside for hands-on planting demonstrations and practice. 

 Coffee and snacks will be provided. 

 This workshop is open to the public, but space is limited. Because this training is designed to prepare volunteer crew leaders for the upcoming planting season, we ask that participants sign up with the intention of helping lead at least two TREES planting events between November and February.
