Public TREES Plantings

DATE: Saturday 3/20/27   TIME: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Tree planting season is fast approaching, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s TREES Initiative is gearing up to plant! Between November 2026 and March 2027, we will be planting on roughly 40 sites, mostly between Hunt and Comfort, and we need your help!

We have been growing nearly 30,000 trees this summer from seeds collected along the Guadalupe River, and they’re ready to find their new home on the riverbank.

We will provide all the trees, tools, and instructions, and you will be accompanied by a trained volunteer leader or staff member. The trees are small, easy to plant, and we will provide easy-to-use planting tools. Snacks and water will be provided, but we ask that you bring your own water bottle to refill.
Public planting events are on Saturdays and by registration only; registration closes 48 hours before an event. Please note that volunteers are required to provide their own transportation to and from the planting site.
You will receive a "Know Before You Go" email 24 hours before the event containing the exact planting location and instructions. All planting events are for ages 18 and up. All volunteers must sign a liability waiver provided by SABG before participating.
Suggested arrival time: 8:40 a.m.
If you or your club, business, or organization would like to schedule one or more planting days, these planting events will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To schedule a group planting email, [email protected] or [email protected].
