Sure, hiking Everest is impressive, but let's focus on a goal that’s a little more attainable and delicious - eating Nepalese food! As it is the coldest month in Texas (fingers crossed it actually gets cold), we will immerse ourselves in a food culture that knows how to warm a body up! Nepalese food is a mix of Indian, Chinese, and Tibetan food: cultures with flavorful spices, rice, barley, chilies, and meat such as buffalo and goat. We are going to be making Momo or Nepalese Dumplings filled with traditional buffalo or vegetables, Thukpa soup, Sandeko cold salad, traditional Nepalese dips, and pickles, and for dessert, a rose and pistachio fudge. To drink, we will have various teas and a Chhyang or rice wine cocktail. Stay warm and well-fed with the culinary team this frigid February!
